Azerbaijan issues free student cards

The Ministry of Youth & Sports of Azerbaijan has awarded to students the country’s first single student cards EURO 26 of the European Association of Youth Cards.

According to the Ministry, practice of providing free student card at the expense of the state for the entire period of study has been used in Azerbaijan for the first time in the world.

Student cards were issued in collaboration with the Union of Students’ Organizations of Azerbaijan and Investment Centre "Khazar", which is representative of the European Youth Card. These cards make it possible to use the facilities in more than 80,000 Internet clubs, hotels, cafes and restaurants, public sites not only in Azerbaijan but also in 30 European countries.

Previously Rahimov informed that today within the discount programs the local banks offer discounts at a rate of 5-30% that testifies of readiness of local trade and services facilities to provide similar discounts within the youth program.

Before the end of 2012, the Ministry intends to provide all university students with student cards.
