
the number of collapsed and damaged houses and facilities in Zagatala region increased after the quake occurred last evening, chairman of the regional emergency commission Elman Ramazanov told APA. He said most of the houses damaged during the previous quake of 7-magnitude on May 7 collapsed as a result of 6-magnitude quake last evening. 25 people were hospitalized and 24 of them were released after receiving first medical aid. One stayed at hospital because of fractured leg. The emergency group was established last night for the elimination of the quake consequences. Nine 50-seat tents were installed for the residents of apartment houses.
Ramazanov said the quake also cut energy supply and now they are working to solve this problem.
He said experts of the Ministry of Emergency Situations examined 4597 houses in the region and identified 1008 of them as seriously damaged. 1650 houses were considered as satisfactory for living, but others need repair. Today the emergency forces started repairing the damaged school buildings in the region.
According to the emergency official, the companies involved in the construction and reconstruction work in the quake-affected region brought necessary construction materials and started their work.
