Repair work in quake affected region will be launched tomorrow

The commissions have been working in quake-affected areas of Zagatala, Balaken and Gakh regions since yesterday. Great majority of houses were destroyed and fell out after 5.7-magnitude quake occurred in the evening yesterday”, Emergency Minister, Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov told APA.

Minister said that according to the last information, 1360 repair houses and 20 damaged social objects were recorded in the quake area: “Today we were in the villages and met with the residents. We understand the concern of people, they consider dangerous to live in the houses. We distribute the tents to the population”.

Minister said that though the number of repair houses was less after the fists quake, the aftershocks occurred at the set of the day increased this number: “We work on providing all distressed families with tents. We want people not to stay outside during the reconstruction of repair houses”.

Heydarov said that Azerbaijani president gave tasks towards elimination of consequences of the earthquake: “Mr. President gave tasks to us and Cabinet of Ministers. May be, the order will be signed on allocation of certain fund for construction of houses”.

The minister noted that the experts and construction companies have been already involved to the region: “The construction companies have already determined places where they will work and a large part of the construction materials are being brought here. Construction works will be started here tomorrow. We will try to carry out this work in short time according to the order of president and provide the life of population in more convenient and safe houses.”

The minister addressed the citizens and advised to carry out design works regularly during the construction of individual houses: “It is needed to use construction materials and assistance of experts and start construction works after examination of construction materials. Construction works must be careful and regular because these areas are seismic.”
