Azerbaijan to certify 'Mud volcanoes' route

The Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry is going to certify tourism route 'Azerbaijan’s Mud volcanoes'.

The Ministry reported that they organized info tour to Gobustan’s mud volcanoes within " Let’s open new tourism routes" project jointly with Geology Institute of National Science Academy of Azerbaijan and «Geo Travel» tourism company.

" The info tour aims at certification of «Azerbaijan’s Mud volcanoes " ecologic route",- the Ministry said.

Among 33 countries of the world where such natural phenomenon exists , Azerbaijan occupies forts place in the world on the number of mud volcanoes. The country numbers about 400 mud volcanoes , 150 of which are subwater or sea and the others- underground ones. Most volcanoes are located in Shemaha Gobustan region.
