
Occurrence of weak shocks of the quake is normal, director general of the Republican Seismological Service Center of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Gurban Yetirmishli told APA.
He noted that strong aftershocks are not observed in the region: “Weak shocks are observed in some places and it is normal. Currently our employees are inspecting after-effects of the quake in the region. The final results will be announced after the inspections.”
The first 5,5 –magnitude (7 magnitude by Richter scale) quake in Zagatala region was recorded in 17 km south-west from the centre of the region, in the depth of 10-12 km at 09.40. Then more two quakes occurred.
