CoE experts visit Penitentiary Service in Baku

The Azerbaijani deputy Minister of Justice, chief of Penitentiary Service Madat Guliyev met experts of the Council of Europe.

Mr. Guliyev updated the guests on activity of the service, conditions of the prisons, construction of the new reformatories meeting the international standards and cooperation with international organizations. He said visits of experts of OSCE, CoE, EU, International Committee of the Red Cross and their monitoring played an important role in activity of the Penitentiary service.

An implementation of the law on protection of the rights and freedoms of prisoners in Azerbaijan, relations between the prisoners and the staff were in the focus of meeting.
