Baku funicular to surprise residents- PHOTOS

The Baku funicular, which was closed down for renovation in April, 2011, will be commissioned in the near future. The reconstruction work already entered the final phase.
 
The funicular station construction is made of glass and has a unique form. The train rails were changed and new cars were purchased. A certain part of the constructions used in the repair of the cable car was imported from Sweden.

The Sabail District Executive Power reported that the funicular to be  put into operation until May 10.
 
The Baku funicular was opened on  May 5, 1960. The distance between the two stations is 455 meters. The lower station is located near the Bahramugyurmonument and the top – near the Alley of Martyrs.
