Population statistics announced

Azerbaijan’s population grew by 0.3 percent in the first quarter of this year. As of April 1, the population increased by 29,100 persons or 0.3 percent and reached 9, 264.200 persons, the Azerbaijani state Statistics Committee reported.
 
The population density for the period reached 107 people per square kilometer. Some 49.6 percent of the population are men and 50.4 percent - are women.  Some 22 percent of the country’s citizens aged up to 14 years, 72 percent – 15 years to 64 years, 6 percent are people aged over 65 and older. Today, the sex ratio is 1015 females for every 1000 males in Azerbaijan.
