Azerbaijan’s population grown by 40%

Over the past 10 years the population of Azerbaijan has observed growth of 40%. Health Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev informs that the dynamic development of health care achieved in recent years has created a foundation to improve medical demographic targets.

"For the past 10 years, due to higher birthrate and lower mortality rate the natural increase rose from 8.1 to 13.5 people. This is the highest index among European countries. Despite the fact that this positive trend will depend not only on the health of people, health care and health services play an important role in its dynamics," the minister emphasized.

According to Shiraliyev, development of Azerbaijan’s healthcare tells is estimated positively not only in the country, but also in the international environment, and is regarded as an indicator of the country’s economic power and its socio-political influence.
