13 April 2012 [14:05] - TODAY.AZ
Landslide-affected residents of Mughanli village of Azerbaijan’s Shamakhi region will have new houses in safe location. A land plot in nearby Meyseri village was allocated for the habitants of 46 seriously damaged houses for this purpose, chief engineer of the Complex Hydro-Geology and Engineering Geology Expedition Shaig Niftiyev reported.

He said they issued positive opinion about the Meyseri village after 10-day monitoring there. “We finished research work in Shamakhi’s Meyseri village and submitted our opinion to relevant organizations. We examined the 55-ha land plot allocated for the construction of houses and social facilities for landslide-affected resident of Mughanli village and 20-ha territory allocated for the young families as well. The situation is stabile in the territory and there is no any natural factor that could cause exogenous geological processes. There is no landslide threat in Meyseri village. Currently experts of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are conducting engineering-geological work there and project and cost sheet of the houses to be constructed there will be elaborated soon”.

Shaig Niftiyev noted that monitoring of landslide areas in Shamakhi, Aghsu and Ismayilli and monitoring of Guba and Gusar regions are still continuing. “We conduct regular monitoring of 226 landslide areas in the country and slight activation of these areas was caused by natural processes. Most active landslide areas are located in Ismayilli and Shamakhi regions. There are 11 landslide areas in Aghsu. We examined those areas and saw that there are new local landslide areas in every village”.
