INEPO-EUROASIA 2012 winners announced in Baku - PHOTOS

The winner awarding ceremony of the 6th International Environmental Project Olympiad (Inepo-Euroasia) took place here at the Heydar Aliyev Sport-Concert complex. The event brought together representatives of governmental agencies, deputies as well as educational workers.

Addressing the event, Arif Gomleksiz, General Coordinator of INEPO-EUROASIA, chairman of the Organizing Committee underlined that national leader Heydar Aliyev attached a special importance to protection of environment and today the ideas of nationwide leader are being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. Speaking to the event, Deputy Education Minister Gulu Novruzov pointed out that envornmental issues and environmental protection in Azerbaijan have always been in focuse of attention of President Ilham Aliyev, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva. He also spoke of Azerbaijan`s dynamic development in all spheres, as well as the country`s prestige in international arena.

In his turn, Turkey`s ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic told of historical ties between Azerbaijan and Turkey, recalling the invaluable contribution of the nationwide leader to development of the bilateral relationship.

Anvar Ozaran, head of company “Cag Ogretim Isletmeleri” said President Ilham Aliyev had announced 2010 is the “Year of Ecology” in Azerbaijan.’

The Olympiad, co-organized by Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company (SOCAR), Azerbaijan’s ministries of Ecology and Natural Resources and Education, Cag Ogretim Isletmeleri and Inepo-Euroasia companies brought together 400 students from 42 countries including Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, Indonesia, Lithuania, Thailand, Laos, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Great Britain, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, Romania and others.

The INEPO contest ultimately aims to motivate students to be aware of the global environment and to proactively work to maintain its health and viability. Competitors were judged in the following five areas for their work: originality, scientific thought, clarity and thoroughness, results of the contribution, and skill. According to the results, the first, second and third place winners were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
