
Chairman of State Migration Service of Azerbaijan Firudin Nabiyev has met with representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Azerbaijan Dag Sigurdson.
During the conversation, Nabiyev spoke of cooperation between the Service and UNHCR, saying UNHCR has a sensible approach to the problems of asylum-seekers and refugees in Azerbaijan. He underlined the importance of the meetings for the sides.
The Azerbaijani official briefed the UNHCR representative on Migration Service`s activity to determine refugee status, and pointed out that information exchange in the relevant sphere can be `useful`.
In turn, the UNHCR representative highlighted importance of expansion of bilateral cooperation, organization of trainings and seminars on human resources development, experience exchange as well. Sigurdson underscored problems people under UNHCR`s care had been facing in labour market and other spheres.
Nabiyev stressed that Azerbaijani government is `tolerant` and takes individual approach to the people living under UNHCR`s care.
