Ecology ministry monitors transboundary rivers

According to the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (MENR), currently, water richness holds 145-205% of decade norm in the rivers of Major Caucasus, 65-75% in the rivers of Minor Caucasus, 65-115% in the rivers of Lankaran-Astara zone, while 15-20% in the rivers of Nakhichevan AR.


Water consumption holds 2083/sec, i.e. 44% of decade norm (in 2011, 109%, being 513 m3/sec) in Giragkasaman settlement of Kura river, while 102 m3/sec, i.e. 74% of decade norm (in 2011, 92%, being 127 m3/sec) in Ayrichay settlement of Ganikh river.

Since April 1 water decrease has been observed in the downstream of the river of Kura. In this regard, water level has abated 25 cm in Surra settlement, 14 cm in Shirvan region, 14 cm in Salyan region, 5 cm in Banka settlement, while 15 cm in Novruzlu settlement of Aras river.
At present, water level holds 600 cm (On April 3, 2011, 522 cm) in Surra settlement, 519 cm (On April 3, 2011, 429 cm) in Shirvan region, 449 cm (On April 3, 2011, 386 cm) in Salyan region, 333 cm (On April 3, 2011, 296 cm) in Banka settlement, while 350 cm (On April 3, 2011, 228 cm) in Novruzlu settlement of Aras river.
