“Earth Hour” event held in Azerbaijan

“Earth Hour” event organized by “Ireli” Public Union was arranged in Azerbaijan`s capital and the cities of Ganja and Lankaran as well as Lahic village in Ismayilli region on Saturday.

Electricity supply in the Maiden Tower and other important centers was suspended for an hour.
By turning off the lights of the Maiden Tower, on March 26 2011, Azerbaijan entered the list of 120 countries supporting this global campaign.

Earth Hour is a worldwide event that is organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and is held on the last Saturday of March annually, encouraging households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour to raise awareness about the need to take action on climate change.
