Azerbaijan to collect its manuscripts all over the world

28 March 2012 [17:55] - TODAY.AZ
There are 12 thousands of Azerbaijani manuscripts in the catalogues of manuscripts of other countries, but this is a little part of the Azerbaijani manuscripts all over the world, deputy director of the Mahammad Fuzuli Institute of Manuscripts of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Pasha Karimov said.

According to him, most of the Azerbaijani manuscripts were collected in Iran and Turkey and Azerbaijani manuscripts are kept in all oriental libraries. “Generally, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India didn’t list the Azerbaijani manuscripts in their catalogues and Iran also didn’t include most of the Azerbaijani manuscripts in its catalogues. That’s why we can’t show the concrete number of these manuscripts”.

Karimov said that the Institute of Manuscripts would bring together all the Azerbaijani manuscripts in a common center: “Such experience is used by the Arab League as well. They collect the Arabic manuscripts in a common center. We will also bring all copies of the Azerbaijani manuscripts collected in other countries to the country. Our institute has already created a special department for this.”
