
According to the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (MENR), currently, water richness holds 100-220% of decade norm in the rivers of Major Caucasus, 95-100% in the rivers of Minor Caucasus, 65-105% in the rivers of Lankaran-Astara zone, while 30-35% in the rivers of Nakhichevan AR.
Water consumption holds 1633/sec, i.e. 53% of decade norm (in 2011, 83%, being 254 m3/sec) in Giragkasaman settlement of Kura river, while 95 m3/sec, i.e. 85% of decade norm (in 2011, 95%, being 106 m3/sec) in Ayrichay settlement of Ganikh river.
Since March 20 water decrease has been observed in the downstream of the river of Kura. In this regard, water level has abated 56 cm in Surra settlement, 36 cm in Shirvan region, 26 cm in Banka settlement, 35 cm in Salyan region, while 40 cm in Novruzlu settlement of Aras river.
At present, water level holds 664 cm (On March 27, 2011, 656 cm) in Surra settlement, 577 cm (On March 27, 2011, 564 cm) in Shirvan region, 510 cm (On March 27, 2011, 486 cm) in Salyan region, 345 cm (On March 27, 2011, 345 cm) in Banka settlement, while 410 cm (On March 27, 2011, 383 cm) in Novruzlu settlement of Aras river.
