Landslide areas activate in Azerbaijan

Cracks have been expanding in the landslide area of the village of Muganli in Azerbaijan's Shamakhi region, chief engineer of the team from the Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology unit of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Shaig Niftiyev told Trend on Monday.

Activity is still being observed and cracks are now filling with water and ground water, he added. He said the contour of the landslide had already been determined. Now the condition of the buildings and homes that fall within this parameter is being studied. Three houses in the Muganli village have been completely destroyed, 11 homes are in disrepair, and a severe distortion was revealed in 40 homes as a result of expert examination. Families whose homes are damaged were evacuated.

The chief engineer also noted that experts from the Ecology Ministry and Ministry of Emergency Situations are working together on this disaster.
