
October 18, marked as the State Independence Day in Azerbaijan, may again be announced a non-working day Such a change is proposed in the General Collective Agreementfor 2012-2013 undersigned by the Cabinet of Ministers, the Confederation of Trade Unions and the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan.
The section 4.21 of this agreement reads that it is planned to make amendment, under which October 18 – the State Independence Day, which is considered a working day, will be announced a non-working day.
On October 18, 1991 the Supreme Council of Azerbaijan adopted the “The Constitutional Act on state independence”. From 1992 to 2006, this day was considered non-working day. However, due to changes in the Labour Code on December 8, 2006, this day was recognized as working day.
