Employees of the Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry’s related carried out raids with the purpose to prevent the illegal hunting of wild birds and animals, and bootleg of them on the territory of the Republic.
During the raids conducted within the January-February of 2012, 85 poachers were seized, and subsequently 73 shotguns, 233 cartridges, 164 birds, such as mute swan, little bustard, included in “Red Data Book”, were confiscated from them.
A protocol was drawn against 55 illegal hunters, an administrative penalty worth 24,000 manat was imposed on 24 of them, while the review of 31 cases in accordance with the law are under way. Law enforcement bodies were resorted to, for determination of the identity of 30 poachers.
During the raids, the Ministry employees met with the resistance of poachers that refused to submit their ID card and documents related to their shotguns, and inflicted a physical injury upon them.
In this regard, during the next raid conducted by the Regional Ecology and Natural Resources Department , 3 citizens of Hajigasimli village of Saatli region engaged in illicit hunting, were detained in the territory of “Sari-su” Hunting Economy functioning in the areas of Sabirabad, Saatli and Imishli regions. When the Department officers demanded ID cards of those poachers and documents related to their shotguns, one of them resisted the department employee, Karim Salimov, stabbed at his face with shotgun, and all of them ran away.
One of the poachers was captured by common efforts of the Department officers, one shotgun, 17 cartridges, 5 mute swans included in “Red Data Book” were revealed from him, and they were confiscated as material evidences commensurate with the article ? 404 of the Administrative Errors Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Certain acts and protocols were compiled in compliance with the law.
The Police Department of Saatli region was informed on the law violation, alongside the physical injury inflicted on the Ministry officer. The collected materials concerning the fact are on preparation to submit to the Procuracy of Imishli region.
