Azerbaijan schedules days-off for Novruz

Azerbaijan has announced seven days-off on the occasion of the Novruz holiday. The Azerbaijani government took the decision to announce the period from March 20-24 (5 days) as a holiday, Cabinet of Ministers spokesman Akif Ali told Trend.

Based on Article 105 of the Labor Code, if public holidays fall on weekends, the day-off is oved to the next working day immediately after the holiday. As March 24 falls on a Saturday, March 26 is a day-off.

Las year, The U.N. General Assembly adopted a special resolution declaring March 21 as International Novruz Day. Afterwards, the OSCE also recognized Novruz as an international holiday.
