Azerbaijan is building temporary housing for homeless children in Azerbaijan, Deputy Head of the Apparatus of the Azerbaijani Labour Ministry Elnur Kalantarly told reporters on Friday.
"In the Zabrat village, a social shelter is being built for 50 people and a social rehabilitation center is being constructed for 50 people. They are designed for homeless children. Recent frosts have shown that many citizens have nowhere to live. We need temporary shelter and medical control," he said.
He added that the centers will work to find their parents, after which they will return to their families. Otherwise, the centers will place with orphanages and further their education.
"We call them 'social homes,'" he said. "Eight centers are being built in the regions."
"We are now preparing the construction documents. These homes will be owned by the state and they be built by the ministry. This will allow us to conduct monitoring to identify the number of homeless children in the country, the challenges they face and how they ended up in such
a situation," Kalantarly said.
