
According to the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (MENR), currently, water richness holds 120-160% of decade norm in the rivers of Major and Minor Caucasus, 40-90% in the rivers of Lankaran-Astara zone, while 25-30% in the rivers of Nakhichevan AR.
Water consumption holds 144 m3/sec, i.e. 84% of decade norm (in 2011, 94%, being 160 m3/sec) in Giragkasaman settlement of Kura river, while 60 m3/sec, i.e. 85% of decade norm (in 2011, 77%, being 54 m3/sec) in Ayrichay settlement of Ganikh river.
Since February 10, increase of water richness has been observed in the downstream of Kura river. In this regard, water level has risen 22 cm in Surra settlement of Kura river, 20 cm in Shirvan region, 37 cm in Salyan region, 12 cm in Banka settlement, while 40 cm in Novruzlu settlement of Aras river.
At present, water level holds 640 cm (On February 13, 2011, 522 cm) in Surra settlement, 522 cm (On February 13, 2011, 411 cm) in Shirvan region, 344 cm (On February 13, 2011, 297 cm) in Banka settlement, while 360 cm (On February 13, 2011, 250 cm) in Novruzlu settlement of Aras river.
