
Ancient Azerbaijani damaged manuscripts stored in the Vatican archives will be restored, Head of Department of Information and Translation of the Institute of Manuscripts under the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences, doctor of historical sciences Farid Alakbarli told Trend.
He said that this work is carried out using the funds allocated by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The restoration operations are conducted by the Vatican specialists, having rich experience in this field. Azerbaijani medieval manuscripts, stored in the Vatican, are not in a good condition.
Some of them are torn up. Some pages are mixed. A total of 40 manuscripts must be restored. It is planned to restore all manuscripts till September, he said.
"We have copies of the damaged manuscripts," he said. "Then we will get copies of the manuscripts after the restoration."
