Azerbaijan announces number of educated people

About 969 of every 1,000 citizens of Azerbaijan at and above age of 15 have higher, secondary and vocational education.

The State Statistics Committee reported that up to January 1, 2012, 114,000 children under 5, or 17.6 percent of all children at these ages are educated in 1,624 public and 15 private infant schools. 97 percent of the infant schools are under the Education Ministry  and 22 percent of these schools are located in Baku.

It was reported that since the beginning of the academic year 2011/2012, 1.3 million children have been educated in 4,498 public and 18 private comprehensive schools. 6,667 children with poor health are educated in 19 special schools or attend special classes in the comprehensive schools.

The committee said the number of schoolchildren educated in the second and third shift classes reduced. This figure reduced from 21.4 percent to 20.3 percent in urban areas, from 17.5 percent to 17.0 percent in rural areas.
