Emergency Ministry issues report on fire occured in Baku - VIDEO - PHOTOS

The Azerbaijani Emergency Situations Ministry issued an official statement about the fire occurred in an apartment building in downtown Baku on Monday.

A fire broke out on an area of ​​750 square meters. It burned the inside walls, floors and 750 sq m area of the 1300 sq m roof of the five-storey building and the ceiling in five flats on the 5th floor.

Some 18 residents, including 6 children and 1 bed patient were evacuated by firefighters and rescuers. The rest part of the building was protected from fire. The fire was completely extinguished at 05.20

A fire occurred in the five-story building at the intersection of Rashid Behbudov and 28 May streets. The strong fire spread to the entire fifth floor and attic of the building. Minister of Emergency Situations Kamaladdin Heydarov arrived on the scene.

Seven fire brigades and ambulance car arrived at the scene. Doctors helped an elderly woman, breathed acrid smoke. Residents were evacuated from the burning building.

Heavy smoke and flames were seen shooting from the roof as crews worked to extinguish the fire and keep the blaze from spreading to nearby structures.
The firemen were able to extinguish the fire.  Causes of fire is unknown. Details of the incident are being specified.
