Majority of the world population despite economic turmoil feel happy. The findings of the WIN-Gallup International global barometer, which surveyed almost 53,000 people in 58 countries, based its findings on “net happiness”, or the percentage of people who considered themselves happy, minus the percentage who considered themselves unhappy.
Some of the happiest countries were Fiji (85 per cent), Nigeria (84 per cent), Netherlands (77 per cent), Ghana (72 per cent) and Colombia (71 per cent). Such countries with middle and low income population as Czechia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Macedonia, South Africa, India and Ukraine rank among the lowest in the global poll.
There is the group of middle-income countries whose citizens feel happy. It includes Azerbaijan, Republic of Korea, Iceland, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Malaysia, Tunis, Brazil and Peru.
The countries with a lower net happiness score were Iraq with 19 per cent; Lithuania at 9 per cent; Serbia with 8 per cent; Palestine at 7 per cent. Residents of Afghanistan with 35% turned out to be happier than US nationals 33%.
