
Azerbaijan recorded less cases of poaching in 2010 compared to 2011, Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry's Spokesman Irada Ibrahimova said. She said the ministry monitored the country’s regions over 11 months of 2011 and recorded 388 facts of illegal hunting of wild birds, as well as violations of fishing regulations and polluting the environment
"The illegal hunting cases were mainly recorded in Guba, Khizi, Zagatala, Ismayilli, Neftchala, Jalilabad, Imishli an Barda region of Azerbaijan," she said. “Poachers often hunt duck and coot, as well as a mountain goat, eel (lamprey) and walleye.”
