Belgium ex Prime-minister visits Caucasian Muslims Office

Belgium ex Prime-minister, Chairman of European People`s Party Wilfred Martens met with Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade.  Mr. Pashazade told of relations established between the religion and the government and concern of the Head of State for protection of religious values in Azerbaijan. He underlined a role of tolerance in development of Azerbaijani society and state. On Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the chairman said the problem must be solved peacefully and within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

Mr. Martens praised relations established between the religion and the government, tolerance in the country and interreligious dialogues. Head of the Russian Orthodox Church in Baku Alexander and chairman of the mountainous Jews of Azerbaijan Semyon Ikhiilov told of great tolerance in the country and large-scale projects on restoration and construction of the Muslim, Jewish and Orthodox churches.
