New seismic stations launched in Azerbaijan

21 December 2011 [12:25] - TODAY.AZ
The Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences' Republican Seismological Center (RSC) has commissioned nine new seismic stations, RIC Deputy Director General Azay Rzayev told.

Rzayev noted that three seismic stations have been commissioned in the Nakhichivan Autonomous Republic. The center also commissioned six stations. All the stations are connected to a satellite system. There are 31 seismic stations operating in the territory of the republic.

The head station is located in Baku in the Academic town, where the information comes from the vibration sensors installed in seismically active spots of the country through the satellite in real time on a regular basis. The system displays information about the exact place of the earthquake's strength and time after processing the data.
