Batumi expects tourist flow

10 December 2011 [13:27] - TODAY.AZ
Georgian Batumi Port owned by Kazakh Oil and Gas Company KazMunaiGas will consider bids for long-term leasing of passenger berth only from cruise operators who will be able to increase tourist flow into the Batumi city, Batumi Sea Port's marketing department analyst Alex Kikava said.

"We will consider bids only from cruise operators who have sufficient market share, experience and all the necessary resources to increase tourist flow into the city of Batumi," Kikava said.

Earlier KazMunaiGas reported about its intention to offer two passenger berths and passenger terminal building in Batumi Sea Port for long-term leasing. According to the company, the possibility of leasing the passenger terminal will be considered not earlier than July 2012.

"Contract price is not yet determined, and it will completely depend on business plans submitted by interested companies," Kikava said.  Batumi port decided to rent passenger terminal mainly because of the company's focus not on sea cruises, but on dry cargo processing.
