Italian Air Carrier to launch Rome-Tbilisi flights

Major Italian Air Carrier "Alitalia" will start regular flights from Rome to Tbilisi from the summer season. The decision was made after negotiations between "Alitalia" and Turkish company "TAV Georgia" managing the Tbilisi International Airport. Major Italian airline will carry our flights twice a week. Cost of tickets will be set in the subsequent months.

"Direct flights between Rome and Tbilisi will boost not only trade and commercial relations between the two countries, but also allow the Georgian passengers to travel to many countries around the world. Appearance of each new company on the Georgian aviation market is the next step in the development of tourism that" TAV Georgia " always welcomes with joy," General Manager Mete Erkal said.

Prior to this, flights to Italy were carried out only by transit through the Airport from third countries. The following airlines - "Air Astana", "China Southern Airlines", "Ural Airlines", "Taban Air", "Fly Dubai", "Air Cargo" joined the Georgian aviation market in the last year. From February 2012 "Qatar Airways" will start operating on the Georgian market.
