Turkey welcomes Russia's joining WTO

Turkey welcomed conclusion of studies by Russia to join World Trade Organization (WTO).

Turkish Foreign Ministry stated on Monday that Russia had been pursuing efforts to join WTO since 1993, and Russia's WTO membership would have contributions to Russian economy as well as Turkey-Russia commercial relations.

Turkey supported Russia's membership to WTO, and the protocol about Russia's joining the organization had been signed between Turkey and Russia in 2005, said the ministry.

Turkey expected the final decision to be made during the WTO conference between December 15 and 17, the ministry added.
