Hurricane leaves several thousand subscribers without electricity in western Georgia

Several thousand subscribers were left without power this morning in the Ozurgeti district (the Guria region, Western Georgia) as a result of the hurricane. As the head of Ozurgeti district Ilia Vashakmadze said, the hurricane blew unroofed multistory buildings and houses both in the Ozurgeti and villages of the district.

The wind uprooted more than 50 spruces, which also damaged power lines. Power transmission lines are now being repaired, and soon the electricity supply will be restored.

The district authorities are counting hurricane damage.
