Georgia spends most of donor funds on transport and energy projects

Of $4.5 billion international humanitarian aid provided to Georgia, $2.5 billion has been spent on the development of energy projects, rehabilitation of roads, water supply systems, the Georgian Finance Minister Dmitry Gvindadze said Tuesday.

"The government will continue financial incentives for the country. With regard to sectors, it will be roads. This is the East-West corridor and internal roads as well as energy projects, water supply and so on," the minister said at a meeting with representatives of donors and international financial institutions operating in Georgia.

The main purpose of the meeting is to acquaint donors with the directions of use of funds allocated to government.

The conversation covered the current positive macroeconomic dynamics in Georgia, the sustainability of fiscal policy, GDP growth and structural reforms.
