Armenian government's steps conflict with anti-corruption policies - ex PM

The Armenian government's current steps conflict with anti-corruption policies, according to Hrant Bagratyan, a former prime minister, currently a member of the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC), Tert.am reported.

"The steps of global nature totally conflict with the anti-corruption logic. If we are combating corruption, why then merge the shopping network?" he said, referring to the increased number of supermarkets in comparison with last year.

He further singled out three forms of customs regime, depending on the amount paid.

"There are three types of customs regime now, - those who do not pay, those who pay only 50% and [those who pay] more," he noted.

Bagratyan stressed the importance of abolishing such customs policy and reforming the Central Bank's strategy to prevent what he called an endless 'funding' of the Armenian Dram.
