177th plane of Turkish Airlines to come from US

A Boeing 777-300ER passenger plane will be delivered from the United States to join fleet of Turkey's national air carrier, Turkish Airlines (THY).

Boeing 777-300ER passenger plane was manufactured by Boeing company in Seattle for THY. The plane will be received on August 19. Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan will attend the first flight of the plane.

There are currently 12 Boeing 777-300ER planes in THY fleet.

The plane has 63 Business Class, 63 Comfort Class (Premium Economy) and 246 Economy Class passenger seats. The plane is used in long distance flights.

Caglayan currently in the United States on a formal visit, will visit Boeing company within the scope of his meetings. He will attend delivery ceremony of the plane and will return to Turkey in the first flight of the plane. The plane is expected to be in Istanbul's Ataturk Airport on August 20.

THY will receive another B777-300ER, two B737-800 and two B737-900ER by the end of this year.

Based in Istanbul, THY is one of the fastest growing airline companies in the world. A Star Alliance member carrying approximately 25 million passengers a year, THY posted 286 million Turkish lira net profit in 2010.

THY has been recently named the Best Airline in Europe by London-based research organization in air travel, Skytrax.
