Head of Administration of the Ozurgeti City Municipality (Guria region, Western Georgia), Giorgi Takidze was detained by police for bribes. He is accused of embezzling state funds, Deputy Prosecutor General of Georgia, David Sakvarelidze said at a briefing.
Takidze is accused of receiving a bribe of 20,000 lari ($ 1 = 1.66 lari) from former head of Ozurgeti Cleaning Service Merab Kurdgelashvili, who was detained earlier.
Takidze received bribes for turning a blind eye to Kurdgelashvili’s fraud, who constantly overrated fuel costs.
Both officials face imprisonment of up to 10 years.
