Iran merges four ministries into two

Iranian government has decided to reduce the number of ministries from 21 to 17, IRNA reported quoting Iran's Vice Presidentfor Development Management and Human Resources Lotfollah Forouzandeh as saying to reporters.

Thus, the government decided to merge the Oil Ministry with the Energy Ministry, while Labor Ministry is merged with the Welfare and Social Security Ministry.

Previously, ministries of Housing and Transport merged, while the Commerce Ministry was given to subordination the Ministry of Mines and Industries.

According to Frozandeh, the government will send its decision to parliament for consideration.

"The parliament is to decide over approving government plan to combine ministries and their new regulations," he added
