Armenian Daron Acemoglu to be Turkey’s new ambassador to France

Ahmet Davutoglu, who addressed the conference on the theme "Turkey’s policy in the modern world" organized by the Wilton Park with the support of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, made a sensational statement.

Foreign Minister said Turkey will send an ambassador of Armenian origin to France. He said the person, who will be appointed as ambassador to France, is Turkish scientist of Armenian origin, world-famous economist Daron Acemoglu.

The nomination of the new ambassador has already been agreed with Prime Minister Erdogan and President Abdullah Gul. The new ambassador asked for three months to complete his new study on economy.

Daron Acemoglu was born in Istanbul in 1967. He studied at the University of York and London School of Economics. He is head of economics department of Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Daron Acemoglu was twice nominated for Nobel, but failed to win the prize.
