Georgian first lady becomes WHO ambassador in Europe

Georgian First Lady Sandra Roelofs will officially be named an ambassador of the World Health Organization in Europe in Copenhagen today.

Her task as an ambassador will include implementing the Millennium Development Goals, in particular, the reduction of maternal and infant mortality and infectious diseases.

Most countries have joined the Millennium Goals. They have agreed to achieve them by 2015.

WHO is the directing and coordinating body of health protection within the U.N. It is responsible for ensuring a leading role while solving global health problems.
