Tbilisi expected to sentence Israeli businessmen

28 March 2011 [09:58] - TODAY.AZ
Today the Israeli businessmen Roni Fuchs  and Zeev Frankel are expected to be sentenced in Tbilisi on Monday.

The businessmen’s lawyer Archil Kbilashvili told Trend, the sentence is expected to be passed on March 28.

"The defense has already made a closing speech. Now it is the prosecution’s turn. After it the court will pass the sentence," he said.

According to Kbilashvili, Frankel and Fuchs deserve justification, although he doesn’t hope for it.

Israeli businessmen Roni Fuchs and Zeev Frankel were arrested in one of the elite restaurants in Batumi last October during a meeting with the Deputy Finance Minister Avtandil Haraidze. Ionas Kardasopulos is also wanted due to this case.

Meanwhile, according to the Israeli media outlets, a delegation headed by the Georgian Jew, billionaire Mikhail Mirilashvili visited Georgia last week, but they failed to release the Israeli businessman. According to unofficial information, the delegation met with the Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.
