Georgian government transfers $1 million to Japan

Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister David Jalagania received Japanese ambassador Masayoshi Kamohara on Friday.

At the meeting Kamohara was informed that Georgia has transferred $1 million through the International Red Cross office in Japan to help those affected by natural disasters in this country, the Georgian Foreign Ministry reported.

The sides also discussed bilateral relations, the situation in Japan after the devastating earthquake and tsunami. The Georgian side was given the latest information on the condition of the Japanese nuclear power plant Fukushima-1, as well as on the situation regarding to the radioactive contamination of foodstuffs.
