May 2 to be declared national day of disobedience in Georgia

24 March 2011 [11:43] - TODAY.AZ
The nation-wide assembly will declare May 2 the National Day of Disobedience in Georgia, said Nino Burjanadze, one of the leaders of the National Assembly, the former speaker of Parliament, the chairperson of the opposition United Georgia Democratic Movement.

"Irreconcilable people will not step back and will achieve victory," she said in an interview with the Palette of the Week newspaper.

However, Burjanadze has refused to talk about the details of the protest, noting that it will take place not only in Tbilisi, but also throughout Georgia.

Ex-Speaker is holding meetings in France. She has already held closed meetings at the Foreign Ministry and Defense Ministry of France, saying that Paris "adequately" assesses the situation in Georgia. "France will not leave the people of Georgia without reaction if President Mikhail Saakashvili sends zonder-brigade against the civilian population," she said.
