Georgian Patriarchate delegation leaves for Turkey

19 March 2011 [13:49] - TODAY.AZ
The Georgian Patriarchate’s delegation has left for Istanbul. The delegation will attend the ceremony of ordination of the Secretary General of the Holy Synod of the World Patriarchate of Archimandrite Elphidophoros.

The ceremony will be held personally by World Patriarch Bartholomew II. The Georgian Patriarchate’s delegation will meet with him.

This visit is another evidence of the friendly relations that bind the two churches, Metropolitan of Western Europe, Church Hierarch Abraham said before leaving for Istanbul.

"Patriarchate of Constantinople has always recognized and recognizes the territorial integrity of Georgia and jurisdiction of the Georgian Orthodox Church on Georgia’s legal territory," he said. "I think this visit will help deepen relations between the two churches," he added.
