"Georgia to meet wheat demand by 30% in 2012"

09 March 2011 [14:36] - TODAY.AZ
Georgia will meet 30-35% of its wheat demand in summer 2012, Georgian Agriculture Minister Bakur Kvezereli said during a meeting today with President Mikheil Saakashvili.

He said plans include building a logistics center in Poti during the second phase of the program, where products will be processed and later sent to a logistics center in western Georgia.

Kvazereli touched upon the need to introduce new technologies in the agricultural sector and said the ministry’s goal is to make them accessible to Georgian peasants and farmers.

He added that important reform has been held in the livestock sector, which will contribute to the systematization of exports and the development of meat production farms.
