Turkey expects progress in privatizing electricity production

04 March 2011 [18:33] - TODAY.AZ
Undersecretary of the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Metin Kilci, said Friday that important progress will be made in Turkey in privatizing electricity production in 2011 and 2012.

Speaking to the Anadolu News Agency, Kilci said that, despite privatization of most electricity production, it was out of question to privatize all production facilities.

Big dams will remain in the hands of the Turkish government, Kilci noted.

Touching on the talks with Japan for a nuclear power plant, Kilci underlined that negotiations with Japan for a nuclear power plant continued.

"It is out of question for us to sit down at the table with investors from an other country while conducting talks with the Japanese," Kilci added.
