Italy's Ambassador to Iran Giuseppe Perrone has been summoned by the Iranian foreign ministry due to the participation of a dissident at event in the Italian parliament, the IRNA news agency said on Friday, Azernews reports, citing ANSA.
The question regards the presence of Maryam Rajavi, leader of the exiled opposition Mojahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO), at an event organized by the Luigi Einaudi Foundation.
The ambassador was told that "hosting a criminal terrorist amounts to encouraging and promoting terrorism and the Islamic Republic will not tolerate moves of this type by anyone and expresses serious condemnation," IRNA reported.
