Georgia will soon get a membership at the Creative Europe and enjoy the benefits of 1 billion euros aid that will be allocated for preserving and supporting the country’s culture, including art, theatre, music, traditional dance and more.
Mikheil Giorgadze, Culture and Monument Protection Minister, said Georgia’s promotion to become a member of Creative Europe was a good opportunity for the country.
Creative Europe is a European Commission-led program launched aimed at providing support to the cultural and audio-visual areas of a certain country.
Georgia will sign the agreement to join the program in Brussels on February 24, Giorgadze noted.
Once the agreement is signed, Georgia will be the first state from the European Union Eastern Partnership countries to join Creative Europe.
European Commission will allocate more than billion euros to Georgia via this agreement in an effort to develop and support local organizations working in various fields of culture.
Furthermore, candidates from Georgia will be able to participate in trainings, festivals, audience-development and market-access activities.
Meanwhile, Iceland, Norway, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, and Serbia are currently at the same position with Georgia, that meet specific criteria to join Creative Europe as a non-EU member-state.
