Turkish President says UN Security Council 'pales' in people’s minds

18 October 2013 [17:50] - TODAY.AZ
UN Security Council is losing influence and power in people's minds, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said on Friday, Anadolu agency reported.

According to the President, Saudi Arabia's decision to reject seat on the UN Security Council is a right decision, and the permanent members should think about it.

Today, Saudi Arabia, which for the first time in its history became a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council on Thursday, rejected the seat on the UN Security Council, because of the policy of 'double standards' and the ineffectiveness of the Security Council in addressing the key international issues, the statement of Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry said.
