Army demands dialogue with Brotherhood in Egypt

26 July 2013 [12:43] - TODAY.AZ
The Egyptian army has urged the members of Muslim Brotherhood movement to start a political dialogue in order to achieve national reconciliation, Anadolu agency reported on Friday.

Otherwise, the Egyptian army is going to change its strategy in the question of fight against terror and violence, a statement of the chief staff of Egyptian armed forces said.

"We are ready to close our eyes to some errors committed by the members of Muslim Brotherhood movement, in case if they agree to make a compromise and a truce with the army," the statement said.

Clashes between supporters and opponents of President Mohamed Morsi have been continuing in Egypt after the Egyptian army suspended constitution and ousted Morsi on July 3.

Egyptian Islamists do not accept these decisions and demand the return of power to the legally elected president.

On July 10, Egypt's Prosecutor General's Office ordered the arrest of leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood movement. Morsi's exact whereabouts has not been reported. It is only known that he is being held by the military in a building of Egypt's Interior Ministry.
